I heard the story about a man that only went to church on Easter and Christmas. So he made his visit one Easter. And after the service was over with he was walking out the back. And the pastor shook his hand. The pastor said, “Son you need to be in the army of the Lord.”
The man said, “Pastor I am already in the army of the Lord.”
The pastor said, “Then why do I only see you on Easter and Christmas.”
And the man whispered in the pastor’s ear, “I am in the secret service.” Some of us are that way, aren’t we? We are in the secret service. No one really knows.
The Easter message is too great not to share it. We’re not only expected to lead a better life when we’re saved, but we must also testify to others about Jesus Christ. Once we have come, and once we have seen … we are commanded to go and tell.
Thousands die daily without knowing the risen Lord. It is imperative that they know that he lives, so that they may live also!
Here are two important statistics:
#1 - The UN estimates that around 140 million babies are born each year around the world. Every second of every day, 4 babies are born into this world.
#2 - Every year 58 million people die in this world. That is 2 people every second of every day. 110 each minute; 6,619 every hour; and 158,857 every day slide off into death.
Romans 10:14, “But how can they call on him (Jesus Christ) to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”
These lost souls need to hear the Gospel message today. They need us to tell them. The Holy Spirit has no audible voice. We are the voice of the Holy Spirit. We must testify to other people about Jesus Christ, or they will never hear and know that the forgiveness, and satisfaction, that their souls long for, is found only in the person of Jesus Christ.
We are supposed to be just a channel through which people can believe in Jesus Christ. A godly walk in everyday life is a good thing, and is a witness in itself, but it’s not enough. Sometimes it’s misunderstood. That means, you’ve got to say something. A witness must say something! Jesus is the Light and we must point people to the light.
When we preach Jesus Christ; honestly, faithfully, sincerely, and truthfully; when we lift up, and exalt the glorious Name of Jesus Christ. Not ourselves; not our theories; but presenting Jesus Christ, and not our opinions; advocating Jesus Christ, and not some false doctrine; then the Holy Spirit will come and make the message real to hearts. But we must say something.
