This past weekend, about 96 countries around the world celebrated Mother’s Day and it’s a pretty big deal. It’s a dedicated time where we show our thanks and appreciation for all things (seen and mostly unseen) that our Mothers have done and continue to do for us. The care and unconditional love are all things we value as being synonymous of mothers. Can you think of anyone else that this is true of?
We all have different experiences when it comes to family and the truth is not all of those experiences are good and stir up warm feelings. Sometimes there is pain associated with a day like Mother’s Day, but we serve a God who actually offers us unconditional love. Regardless of our circumstances-our past or our present has no bearing on how much He loves us. It never changes. We see an example of this in Luke 13:34 where Jesus says “how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings…” even when we are unwilling, our Father still stands with arms open towards us.
So whatever our experience and however we feel about Mother’s Day , we can be thankful and celebrate the wonderful goodness of Jesus because His love for us, endures forever.
