Have you ever prayed for something to work out a certain way, a specific way and it didn’t? Kind of disappointing right? Especially when you think that your way was better than what actually happened. After all you’re the one in the situation, you have best perspective on what the best outcome would be. But do you? Do any of us?
Isaiah 55:9 flies into the face of that theory doesn’t it?
It says “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts".
It is hard to think that we have the best perspective when God says that His thoughts and ways are not our thoughts and ways but that they are actually higher than ours. Not higher in the sense of proximity but that they are more elevated than ours. God has the benefit of being outside of time and so He isn’t limited by time. He sees everything in its entirety. We experience time moment by moment and even though we try we have no idea what will happen next and how it will affect the rest of our lives. But God sees it all. Not only that, he is able to have even the painful things work together for our good.
So when we pray and the answer we get isn’t the one we wanted, or what we thought would give the best outcome we need to remind ourselves that the God ways are higher than our ways. On this earth we see only in part, but our Father sees everything and is able to perfect all that concerns us.
