We are now in the second week of 2022 and I am sure for many of us it isn’t going quite how we thought it would.
The new year carries the wonderful promise of a new beginning, a chance to start over, turn a new page and it can get a little discouraging when that new page has much of what we hoped we would leave behind.
It’s a good thing we don’t put our hope and trust in fickle things right?
The honest truth is we do, more than we would like the admit. Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit whatever you do to the Lord, and he will establish your plans” but we don’t do that, not wholeheartedly. Most times we commit to the extent of God doing exactly what we want and when things don’t go the way we expect we turn to alternate means. But there is no surer place for our hope to be. No safer guide to follow than that of Jesus. His love for us knows no end which means he wants nothing but the best for us and His best is better than anything we could dream up for ourselves. Will it always be easy, or fun or without pain? No it won’t. And he never promised that it would. Quite the opposite actually. But it will be filled with blessing and abundance and fullness of joy, even in the midst of what are horrible circumstances. Why? Because God doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. A new year doesn’t endow God with more power but gives us the opportunity to rediscover the God who spoke this world into being, who breathed life into dust and who conquered hell and death when He sent His son to save us!
New Year yes, but it’s the same God.
Allow this same faithful and good God to establish your plans for 2022!
