We communicate with God through prayer and Bible study. When we study about prayer, we understand how important it is to pray when trouble comes. Some might pray for deliverance and some might pray for a change of the circumstances, and there is nothing wrong with either of those things.
Psalm 27:7-8, “Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me! 8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
True prayer in times of trouble is really a response to God calling us. The psalmist said, “My heart has heard you say, “COME AND TALK WITH ME.” Isn’t it interesting that even when trouble overwhelms us, some of us resist taking that first step toward God? When trouble comes, we have a tendency to try to work it out ourselves, and God is the last option on a long list of options.
But if it takes a broken heart to draw us closer to God, then our prayer should be, “God, Break my heart.” Anything that draws us closer to God has great value. Rely on Him by faith, and remain calm until His help arrives.
